The Polish Centre for African Studies (PCSA) was founded on July 12, 2010 on the initiative of academics from the University of Wroclaw. The aim of the Centre is to promote interdisciplinary research as well as to stimulate discussion on Africa.
PCAS is the first independent non-governmental think-tank organization in Poland dedicated to the study of Sub-Saharan Africa. One of the most important aims of the Centre is to conduct research into the wide range of economic and political problems as well as international relations of African countries. Other activities of PCAS include promoting the cooperation of researchers focused on Africa as well as establishing and supporting schemes for cooperation of Poland with African countries. PCAS aims also at educational goals of promoting a wider awareness of Africa in Poland.
PCAS wants to establish connections between governmental, non-governmental, business and academic interests in Africa by providing professional analyses, studies and consultancy. The Centre organises workshops and conferences on Africa as well as conducts internal and external research projects.
